File and layer hygiene

Layerlab is a calmer way to organise Figma layers. Unglamorous, and the single biggest time saver on this list for anyone who inherits files from other people.

Fewer is faster. Every installed plugin adds load time and menu clutter. Audit monthly and remove anything unused.

Check what Figma now does natively. Variables, auto-layout improvements and Dev Mode absorbed a lot of what plugins used to be needed for. Many popular plugin recommendations are years out of date.

Be careful with file access. Plugins can read your file contents. For client work under NDA, that's worth a moment's thought.

A good starting file beats a plugin. Most repeated manual work indicates a missing system, not a missing tool.
